Magazine Name

Through my research, surveys, and discussions with my team member, we came down to options for the name of our magazine.

- This Is You
- The Look
- Self
After studying the data from our surveys and a few more long discussions, we have came to the conclusion that our name is going to be, 'Self'. And in between all of our discussions, we came up with our very own slogan, 'Be True to Yourself.'

We decided to use this name and slogan to be able to inspire girls by creating a magazine that features girls who reflect them instead of the typical blonde, white, skinny models all over the media. And hopefully this will give them the confidence to be true to themselves instead of killing themselves to look like the typical model portrayed by society.

This just one practice example of how our logo would look.

Applying Classmates’ Responses

After reading all the responses from my classmates, I have came to the conclusion that this magazine would be one, not just for teens but one that every women can enjoy. One magazine name I have came up with is 'This is You'.

I personally love this title because I feel as if when a woman reads just the name alone it will let them know this is not like every other magazine out on the market, however, but one that is specially designed for you.

Picking a Color Scheme

For my magazine, the color scheme is going to be yellow. Yellow is seen as a very happy uplifting color.

Research With Classmates

I created a survey using surveymonkey.com to find out what people my age, fellow classmates, would like to see in a magazine. I included questions asking if they've previously seen any of the topics I would like to discuss in my magazine, LGTBQ+ , body positivity, and a wide range of races used for the models.

I also included one open response question so I can get more specific responses. The question was what would they like to see, I could also use these responses in the magazine if there's several of the same ones.

Magazine Covers

I included this Spanish version of a recent Vogue magazine cover because it shows not just one but four Afro-Dominican models, each with their natural hair out.

Research

Over the past few days I have been researching several women magazines, some were posted above to be used as examples.

When researching all these women magazines, I was very disappointed with the fact that I couldn't find many diverse (in shape and ethnicity) models on the cover page. With this fresh in my mind, it gave me the idea to have all my models on the cover page wearing an outfit of their own. Which allows the models to add their own personal touch to the magazine.
